Streets & Roads Operations Manager
SALARY
The minimum salary is
$56,754.88 annually. This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

The purpose of this classification is to plan, direct, and supervise all operational activities related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, roads, and associated public infrastructure.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Six (6) years of related experience, two (2) of which must have been in a supervisory or management role
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee daily operations of Streets and Roads maintenance crews, including pavement repair, patching, grading, drainage, signage, and related infrastructure
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate supervisors, crew leaders, and field staff to ensure effective performance and adherence to safety and quality standards
- Tree Crew, Paint Crew and the Mr. Manhole Crew
- Develop and implement operational plans, schedules, and priorities based on departmental goals, community needs, and budget constraints
- Manage procurement, inventory, and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials to ensure operational readiness
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and local policies, enforcing safety protocols to reduce risk and incidents
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to operations, personnel, equipment, and projects
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and other divisions to coordinate construction projects, traffic control, and emergency response
- Attends and participates in internal and external meetings
- Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
- Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class B with Endorsement N - Tank Vehicles and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate in order to qualify
- CDL holders are subject to FMCSA query prior to qualification

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be accessible for on-call duty and ability to work weekends and holidays as assigned and on emergencies.
- Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies.
- Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
- All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
